It's about an elf who wants to be a dentist. Me: Okay, so what's it about? She: It's about a dentist. She: I'm pretty sure I've already seen this one. She tries to get out of watching The Year Without a Santa Claus the same way. Whenever I suggest watching something for The Unenthusiastic Critic, N's first instinct is always to lie and say she's already seen it. I myself had not seen it in a good thirty years before we decided to watch it for this post, so I was eager to revisit it-and, of course, to subject my beloved fiancée to its pleasures. Two supporting characters-the Heat Miser and the Snow Miser-have entered the public consciousness, along with their catchy song, but the story itself has more or less fallen into obscurity.
